Welcome to The Gibson Centre in Alliston, Ontario! The Gibson Centre for Community, Arts & Culture is an historically rich, versatile and beautifully restored space located in the heart of New Tecumseth.
The Gibson Centre has a new Artist-in-Residence, Greg Hindle - a well-known local visual artist with over 30 years teaching experience. Greg will be painting onsite and mentoring an open studio each Tuesday from 10 – 3, where anyone can drop in and paint at a minimal cost. If you're a budding artist or even if you've never picked up a paintbrush, Greg is on hand to offer one-on-one professional guidance. Stop in to chat with Greg, bring your art supplies and be creative! Tuesdays from 10 AM till 3 PM; Member Fee is $7.00 or $10.00 for Non-Members.

The Mercer Pub is an event space located on the basement level of the Gibson Centre. It is named after the Mercer Manufacturing Company, the original business of the what we know now as the Gibson Centre, built in 1889 as a farm implement business. The pub features local craft brewers including Creemore Springs.
Watch for special Community Pub Nights on our EVENTS page!
Volunteers at the Centre play an invaluable role whether they are providing tours to visitors of the Centre, supporting events, assisting at performances and art programs, helping in our cafe or participating as board or committee members.
Volunteering is an excellent and rewarding way to contribute to your community, stay active, meet people, learn more about the arts, use your skills, pursue your interests, fulfil your educational requirement and much more.
Our volunteer assignments have various time commitments that fit every lifestyle – weekly, monthly, occasionally, etc. Our volunteers include men and women from all walks of life and all age groups – professionals, homemakers, students (minimum age 14), retirees, etc.
Our screening process for volunteers includes a personal interview with the Coordinator, Volunteer Services, two reference checks and a police record check. Prior to starting your assignment you will be given an orientation to the Centre as well as on the job training to your specific assignment. If you would like further information or are interested in taking the next step toward volunteering at the Centre, please contact The Gibson Centre at 705-435-2828, or info@gibsoncentre.com
