ASC2018 - The Art of Printmaking (Grades 1-4)

Sep 20, 2018 - May 30, 2019 Thursdays 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM

Enter the mesmerizing world of 'Collagraph!' This authentic method of printmaking is a artistic and creative take on a basic collage. Instead of a board, a cut out image is used as the template (such as a leaf). Smaller detailed paper cut outs will then be glued in layers. Layering the paper creates detail and separation. The cut out image (template) will then be inked up and transferred onto paper as the completed art piece.

Class theme will change with the seasons, with Fall being our starting point. As classes progress, materials such as string, straw or burlap will be used to further create texture and interest.

The student will gain a thrilling result from their starting collage to a finished printed art piece! Students will get the opportunity to experiment with dyed paper techniques to bring new dimensions to their prints.
