Artists at the Gibson

Artists at the Gibson

The Artists at the Gibson provide two different painting opportunities in the beautiful, bright Holmstrom Hall gallery on the second floor.

Tuesday studio painters have as a mentor, Greg Hindle, who is the artist-in-residence at the Gibson Centre. Greg provides help in whatever area the artist wishes to develop. Membership is annual, January 1st to December 31st. Fees are $175/year. Painters joining after the 1st of September may pay $15/month payable in one payment to the end of the year.

Wednesday studio painters enjoy painting on their own with support from fellow group members. Membership is annual, January 1st to December 31st. Fees are $135/year. Painters joining after the 1st of September may pay $15/month payable in one payment to the end of the year.

Social events include two pitch-in luncheons in May and December and an annual juried Gallery Exhibit. We schedule workshops with guest instructors, have a monthly "show and tell day" which garners input from other members when requested.

Visitors and new members are always welcome. For membership information please call Joan Warren, 705-434-9904 or email joantomwarren@gmail.com Better yet, drop in and see us on a Tuesday or Wednesday. See what we are doing and talk to the painters.

The Holmstrom Hall Gallery features paintings primarily from the Tuesday and Wednesday Artists at The Gibson. Be sure to visit the gallery often as the exhibit changes every few months. You might just find your next "most favourite painting"!

Volunteer

Volunteer

Volunteers at the Centre play an invaluable role whether they are providing tours to visitors of the Centre, supporting events, assisting at performances and art programs, helping in our cafe or participating as board or committee members.

Volunteering is an excellent and rewarding way to contribute to your community, stay active, meet people, learn more about the arts, use your skills, pursue your interests, fulfil your educational requirement and much more.

Our volunteer assignments have various time commitments that fit every lifestyle – weekly, monthly, occasionally, etc. Our volunteers include men and women from all walks of life and all age groups – professionals, homemakers, students (minimum age 14), retirees, etc.

Our screening process for volunteers includes a personal interview with the Coordinator, Volunteer Services, two reference checks and a police record check. Prior to starting your assignment you will be given an orientation to the Centre as well as on the job training to your specific assignment. If you would like further information or are interested in taking the next step toward volunteering at the Centre, please contact The Gibson Centre at 705-435-2828, or info@gibsoncentre.com
