The Nottawasaga Handweavers and Spinners Guild, founded in 2003, provides a venue for members to practise the art and craft of spinning and weaving in a supportive fibre arts community. The Alliston Knitters joined the Guild in 2013, and meet regularly to work on projects together. Meetings are held on the third Saturday of most months and feature guest speakers, demonstrations, presentations by guild members, or mini-workshops. Members meet to work on projects on Monday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Thursdays from 10 a.m. until noon, frequently followed by a light lunch in the Gibson Centre Café. The group is involved in community outreach activities and provides demonstrations at Alliston’s Canada Day festivities and the Alliston Potato Festival, as well as the Alpaca Ontario Show in Orangeville.
